Now What?

When Mormons see the errors of the religion they have been
taught to revere, they are faced with a dilemma. They realize that if they embrace the
truth of the word of God and leave the falsehood of Mormonism, they will encounter the
wrath and/or tears of their loved ones. To those who may be in this predicament we offer
the following considerations.
First, truth is the only path of happiness in this life and
for eternity. Only by embracing the truth does a person exhibit true love toward God and
toward their loved ones. Forgiveness for sins and where a person will spend eternity are
the most important issues. Jesus Christ, the Son of God loves you and has paid the full
penalty for your sins. Your first and foremost responsibility is to Him. If you call upon
Him for salvation, you will become His child and be immediately added to His true church.
By living in the truth, you will not only have the personal peace and joy which God
bestows on His children, but may also have the delight of seeing some of your loved ones
and friends come to Christ and be saved themselves. Real love can take no other course
than the truth.
Thank God, he has made the way into His love and grace clear
and universally simple and available. It is a fact that "all have sinned and come
short of the glory of God" (Rom 3:23; Eph 2:1-3) and "the wages of sin is
death" (Rom 6:23). Like a drowning man, we can do nothing to save ourselves. God in
His mercy and love sent His only begotten Son to live the perfect sinless life we could
not live (Heb 7:26), then He died and went to hell in our place (John 3:16; Eph 4:9; Acts
2:27) paying the penalty for our sins. The one verse encapsulation of this truth is found
in 2Corinthians 5:21.
"For he (the Father) hath made him (the Son) to be sin
for us, who (the Son) knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in
him." (2Corinthians 5:21)
When a person realizes their "drowning," helpless
condition and cries out to Him for salvation and forgiveness, God hears and responds from
heaven!
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and
thou shalt be saved, and thy house." (Acts 16:31)
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt
be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him
shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the
same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:9-13)
"And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up
so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me
a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for
every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be
exalted." (Luke 18:13-14)
God saves them and gives them a new life.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
(2Corinthians 5:17)
At the same moment He places them into His family or church.
"Praising God, and having favour with all the people.
And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." (Acts 2:47)
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body,
whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to
drink into one Spirit." (2Corinthains 12:13)
Are you willing to forsake your proud efforts at saving
yourself and open your heart to the loving forgiveness of Jesus Christ by faith in the
work He has already completed for you?
"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned
every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
(Isaiah 53:6)
"And almost all things are by the law purged with blood;
and without shedding of blood is no remission. It was therefore necessary that the
patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things
themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy
places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to
appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the
high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he
often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the
world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed
unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the
sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin
unto salvation." (Hebrews 9:22-28)
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
